This garden was inspired by the American Woodland Garden. The client has lived in the States for many years and recognized in our work the naturalness of the American continent. Their request was to expand the existing garage, look at a suitable spot for a pool and canopy, and see if we could incorporate a natural stream.
Together with the canopy, we transformed the garage into a striking two-unit. The garage is a closed object clad with Red Cedar shingles, the canopy is the openwork version. Two buildings as one identity, celebrating the love of architecture and craftsmanship!
The garden has a natural height difference of more than one and a half meters, allowing the stream to flow throughout the garden. The mowed lawn in the middle of the garden symbolizes the magical clearing in the forest, which you can look at from the house and the structure, but have to step over the creek to get there. The stream flows past the canopy and in front of the bay window of the typical American home, allowing you to enjoy nature from all the main seating areas. The existing trees and shrubs have been reincorporated and supplemented here and there with new specimens so that a natural connection to the environment has been created. A small swimming pool has also been fitted in, in a place where the sun shines the longest but where the pool does not stand out.
This woodland garden has a special place in my heart. In fact, this natural place breathes the essence of my work. Take 2 minutes for the video below and experience for yourself what this special garden does to you.
