Book release _ Gardens under big skies

We are extremely proud of our contribution to the new garden book ‘Gardens under big skies’ by Noel Kingsbury and photographer Maayke de Ridder.

In this richly illustrated book, the author searches for the identity of the Dutch garden style on the basis of 12 Dutch garden designers. They look at our landscape, our culture and our garden history, which results in a beautiful and instructive garden book that is now published in the UK, and will be worldwide later on.

Lecture _ St. Petersburg

I recently had the opportunity to give my lecture in St Petersburg, Russia. It was an inspiring weekend in which I met many Russian colleagues but also garden architects from Finland, Brazil and Japan. And of course in my spare time a visit to the Hermitage museum could not be missed. What a fantastic experience!

Masterclass _ Kiev

What a special experience!

Last week in Kiev (Ukraine) I had the opportunity to give a multi-day masterclass for a lot of curious colleagues from four different countries. We searched for personal drives, thought about design principles and in which ways we can collaborate effectively. Of course we had some language barriers to overcome through an interpreter, but it all went very well. Enthusiastic reactions and interesting encounters. And as a final step, we were able to discover the city. Impressive!

My name is Noël van Mierlo, inspired garden designer. I have a proclivity for trees and bold architecture. It is in my nature to create something that you will experience as coming home; a natural wellness experience in your own garden. A green, adventurous place where you can relax and enjoy luxury and comfort. Experience your nature!

Together we go for a unique design in which the garden is balanced. A garden in which you, nature and architecture connect beautifully. An adventurous interior space which can be enjoyed and completely accustomed to your personal wishes. But also a garden in which the seasons are given their deserved podium. In short, a design which is rich in nature and style. Audacious, timeless and slightly self-willed.

The interview

I have prepared a richly illustrated lecture in which I explain how I discovered my design principles, by looking at my personal drives. I take you on a journey through my work with a lot of pictures and film, and I explain how I work together with other professionals. We finish the lecture with our Japanese Water Garden, winner of two SGD Awards in 2019.
