Yes, the entrance and front yard of the Japanese water garden are now a reality!
Just like in the Japanese backyard, we have used large stones, numerous perennials, and beautiful trees. For instance, the Maidenhair tree (Ginkgo biloba) can be seen both in the front and back yard, creating a harmonious connection between the two spaces. Special attention has been given to the corten steel portals at the front door and in the garden. These elements lend the garden a contemporary look, which is further enhanced by beautiful lighting in the evening.
Our proposal also included covering the garage with Shou Sugi Ban wood. The customer immediately agreed! Previously, the garage was white and merely an extension of the house. By covering it with the blackened wood, the house appears to recede slightly on the plot, making the garage a modern and distinctive focal point.
The unique Shou Sugi Ban technique, inspired by ancient Japanese traditions, involves burning one side of softwood to create a striking layer of carbon. The primal strength of the fire is visible in the color and texture of the wood.
