Floating Pool Garden _ Winner Hoog.Design Awards 2024

A greater compliment for a designer is hardly imaginable: a client who spontaneously invites you for a walk through his garden and can’t stop talking about it. He never expected that he would wander through his own garden every day with so much joy, just to enjoy nature, the chirping birds, and the ever-changing palette of flowers in this rural oasis. This fills us with immense joy because this is exactly what we strive to achieve with our outdoor spaces.

A true eye-catcher is, of course, the sturdy pool house and the swimming pool that seemingly floats in the pond, a real delight on warm days. The client wanted a swimming facility in the garden but feared that a conventional pool would not fit in the rural environment. By integrating the pool into the pond, it feels like swimming in natural water.

Moreover, the garden connects with life: the flower beds and majestic trees that attract an abundance of birds, and the presence of horses, sheep, and chickens around the farm. The adventurous design of the garden invites natural exploration of all this. It has become a garden that exudes serene tranquility, is constantly in motion, and where the seasons have their well-deserved place.

It’s almost unbelievable that this garden was just a bare meadow only 3.5 years ago before these photos were taken. We were involved with the construction team from an early stage to conceive a comprehensive project together with the architect and the client. The wishes were clear: a harmonious whole that seamlessly blends with the adjacent nature reserve. A living environment where nature is central, where relaxation is a given, and where the horse meadows are never far away.
